IMPORTANT: To insure adequate food and ammunition, attendance will be limited to the first 192 shooters to register below. A limited number of walk-ins may be accommodated, but overall attendance will be limited.

Youths under the age of 18 must have the consent of both parents (or a custodial parent/guardian) to participate. Please print and complete two copies of each of the following documents, and bring them to the range:

Red Brush will Provide:

1. Instructors for each event

2. Air-rifles, shotguns, 22 cal. rifles, 22 cal. Pistols and appropriate ammunition

3. A representative from the DNR

4. Lunch

5. Eye and ear protection

6. Parking, shelter, and restrooms

7. Attendance Prizes to be announced


Purpose of the day:

1. To promote safety awareness concerning firearms

2. To provide a safe hands-on learning environment under the supervision of experienced shooters and Instructors.

3. Promote shooting sports as family activities


Schedule of Events

8:00AM-9:00AM……….Registration or Pre-register at www.redbush.org

9:00AM-12:00PM.…..….Shooting activities with Instructors

12:00PM-1:30PM……….Lunch / Introduction to Department of Natural Resources (DNR)

1:30PM-4:00PM ………..Shooting activities with Instructors

4:00PM………………………Attendence Prize Drawings

Times are approximate


We will be using four separate bays for the days events

Bay 1 will have the 22 cal. Pistol event

Bays 2 & 3 will have the Shotgun event

Bay 4 will have the Air-Rifle event

300 yd. Range will have the 22 cal. Rifle event


Who is invited:

Anyone between the ages of 9-19 yrs.

Pre-registration is not required, but would be very appreciated.

The ages will be separated into groups

1. Ages 9-13 yrs will start the day on Bay 4 with the Air-rifles

2. Ages 14-17 yrs will start the day on the 300 yd range with the 22 cal. Rifles

3. Ages 18-19 yrs will start the day on Bay 1 with the 22 cal. Pistols

4. All Venture Scouts will start the day on Bays 2 & 3 with the shotguns

When your group has completed an event you will move to the Bay to your

left when facing down range. Example; 300 yd range moves to Bay 1, Bay 1

moves to Bays 2 & 3, Bays 2 & 3 go to Bay 4, and Bay 4 goes to 300 yd range.


Activities at Bay 1 (Pistol) will involve:

1. An Instructor will be speaking to the entire group about gun safety and Range rules.

2. There will be 8 youths at the firing line at a time along with 8 adults.

3. Each youth will get to shoot 5 rounds at 3 paper targets. (total 15 rounds)


Activities at Bays 2 & 3 (Shotguns) will involve:

1. An Instructor will be speaking to the entire group about gun safety and Range rules.

2. There will be 4 youths at a time at the firing line in each bay, along with 4 adults.

3. Each youth will get 5 attempts to shoot at a thrown clay target.


Activities at Bay 4 (Air-rifles) will involve:

1. An Instructor will be speaking to the entire group about gun safety and Range rules

2. There will be 8 youths at the firing line at a time along with 8 adults.

3. Each youth will get to shoot 5 rounds at 3 paper targets. (total 15 rounds)


Activities at the 300 yd range (.22 Rifles) will involve:

1. An Instructor will be speaking to the entire group about gun safety and Range rules.

2. There will be 8 youths at the firing line at a time along with 8 adults.

3. Each youth will get to shoot 5 rounds at 3 paper targets. (total 15 rounds)

This is not a competition. This is an opportunity for young people to learn gun safety, and to experience the fun that the shooting sports can bring.


At the end of the day we will have a drawing to give away several of the airguns, rifles, and shotguns used in the the event.

If a youth under 18 yrs. wins a drawing, a parent must be present to sign.
